Real-Life Scenario
Scenario:
It’s 3:00 am and there’s motion detected on the 27th floor of the
headquarters building.
Without Vigilos:
- You have 3 guards on-site at headquarters,
patrolling the floors and watching cameras.
- They may or may not happen to be viewing
the 27th floor cameras at the time motion was detected…or
there may not be cameras on the 27th floor.
- The motion detectors and other alarm points
may be sending off many false alarms, so the “true” alarm
is buried.
- If the alarms are noticed, how many times
are they ignored because of the “cry wolf” syndrome?
- If there is a video camera, how quickly
can the guard find the appropriate camera, and pull up
recorded video from the time of the incident?
- Maybe one of the 3 guards goes up to the
27th floor, but by the time she gets there, there’s
nothing to be seen. There’s no recorded video to
review.
Total time elapsed: 15-45 minutes.
Total guard costs: 3 full time guards
Odds of capturing a true incident: 50:50?

With
Vigilos BrightSite
- You have a single on-site guard, augmented
with remote guards that are monitoring several of your
buildings.
- It doesn’t matter if anyone was viewing
cameras on the 27th floor when the motion occurred; the
Vigilos service automatically detects the motion and
applies the policy-based rules to determine if it’s
an alarm.
- Your company’s policy may state
that if there’s a single motion detected at 3am,
a guard must be dispatched.
- Or, you may decide that it’s better
to match the first motion with a second motion anywhere
on the floor, or some other indication of activity,
before you dispatch a guard.
- Either scenario (or any others) can be
built into the automatic rules applied to your sites.
- When an event is generated, according to
your policies, the on-site guard is automatically notified
via text message to his cell, or email to his PDA, and
both he and the remote guard see the event on their monitors
as well. Both are able to review the recorded video of
the exact moment the motion occurred, with one mouse-click.
- The rule can be configured to automatically
activate some lighting on the 27th floor, to aid in the
investigation of what’s occurring, if anything.
- Either guard can determine, within a few
seconds, whether someone needs to be dispatched, by reviewing
the recorded video. They can also bring up live video
of all cameras in the area for side by side comparison.
Total time elapsed: 1-2 minutes.
Total guard costs: 1 full time guard on-site, plus a portion of 1 remote
guard
Odds of capturing a true incident: 99%
