“We’re monitoring our entire enterprise from our headquarters using BrightSite and a handful of guards. That’s allowed us to reduce the guard force that would normally be required by thirteen positions, and that saves us nearly $2 million every year.” -

Tom Fasig,
Security Manager, PEMCO

FBI Chooses Vigilos Enterprise Security Management Software

SEATTLE, Washington, 16-December, 2004 -- Vigilos, the leading provider of Enterprise Security Management (ESM) software for the physical security needs of large enterprises, announced today that the Federal Bureau of Investigation has agreed to implement the Vigilos software in multiple locations. After a thorough exploration of alternative solutions, the FBI opted to license the Vigilos software.

"We evaluated the solutions offered by a number of the leading manufacturers in the physical security industry and found that the Vigilos software best meets our needs today and provides an innovative path for our needs in the future," said Mike Friedel, who manages security technology for the FBI. "In particular, the ability of the Vigilos software to integrate seamlessly with our existing hardware from Hirsch, Pelco, and Bosch/Radionics was a key driver in our decision."

The specific requirements that are most important to the FBI include compatibility with and the ability to integrate to existing alarm panels, alarm receivers, access control systems, and video systems; the use of a single database to manage all user information, user authorizations, alarms, access control activity, video, and hardware configurations; and universal accessibility and full programmability through any authorized workstation, whether local or remote.

"We welcome the opportunity to work with manufacturers such as Hirsch and Bosch, who make superb hardware panels, to expand the capabilities of their hardware solutions across the multi-site enterprise," said Geof Barker, CEO of Vigilos. "We are confident that our software, combined with the hardware provided by our partners, will provide dramatically better security and improved efficiency for the FBI."

Vigilos is currently operating in a variety of installations including banks, seaports, multi-tenant commercial buildings, petrochemical, public transportation and other organizations. Customers have declared their satisfaction with results including doubling output with the same staff, effectively managing security for dozens of sites from a single operations office, enabling collaboration across and outside the organization, and overall improvements in security.
